Maria Alexander has been slinging steel since 2002, when she began studying stage combat with film fight masters such as Roberta Brown, Richard Ryan and TJ Rotolo, specializing in 17th-century European small sword.
In 2010, she fell in love with Shinkendo, the school of Japanese swordsmanship founded by Obata Toshishiro-Kaiso. She’s been a member of the International Shinkendo Federation ever since. Her “second home” is Mashuu Dojo as a student of Sensei Matthew Lynch.
Check out this outstanding video for a demonstration of Shinkendo with some Aikido thrown in (so to speak).
